Purpose

Finance teams frequently need a short list of AI tools that are actually useful for FP&A or close—not just marketed as AI. Generic software review sites rarely filter for finance workflows or controls expectations under SOX-style environments. This directory aims to be a small, fast reference with consistent evaluation criteria.

Design Approach

An initial spreadsheet of vendors and categories is workable for personal notes but weak as a public resource—no search, inconsistent criteria, stale within weeks. The intended architecture moves the source of truth toward structured entries (Markdown or Notion) rendered by Astro so each tool gets the same fields: use case, data-handling notes, finance relevance, and a plain-language “when to skip.”

Current Status

The site skeleton exists; content is the bottleneck. Target for launch: 30–50 entries that pass a simple bar—real AI capability, finance-relevant use case, and a link to public pricing or docs. The goal is curated quality, not exhaustive coverage.

Early feedback suggests filters by workflow (close, FP&A, AP, audit) matter more than filters by vendor size.

  • Notion API (optional) — Let non-devs add or edit entries without touching the repo
  • Tailwind — Layout and responsive UI

Planned Improvements

  • Publish an editorial policy: how entries are added, what “finance-relevant” means, and when tools are removed after poor enterprise fit.
  • Keep sponsorship and curation standards visible so readers trust the list.
  • Status: Private beta while editorial criteria and taxonomy are being finalized.
  • Evidence: Sample entries and filter logic walkthroughs are available on request through the contact page.
